On the 13th April 2016 the line was closed between Farnham and Alton. This was caused by a landslip and Network Rail have been working to rebuild and strengthen the embankment near Wrecclesham to restore services as soon as possible. The target date for completion is currently 9th May. Network Rail were due to be starting works to double-deck the car park in Farnham, but this has been put off until after the line to Alton opens. There has been a bus replacement service in operation, valid with all train tickets. More details are on the South West Trains website.
